The Barcelona midfielder was taken off the Bernabéu pitch on a stretcher in the first half against Real Madrid.
Frenkie de Jong was stretchered off injured near the end of the first half of the Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona at the Bernbéu.
De Jong was injured challenging for a loose ball with Madrid player Valverde. Their feet collided in midair with De Jong’s foot twisting awkwardly from the impact and apparently damaging the ankle.
The Dutch player was treated on the pitch and eventually managed to get to his feet, but was unable to walk off the pitch and was put onto a stretcher. He was visibly distraught and in tears. The injury is to the same ankle he had previously injured.
Pedri was brought in as a substitute for the injured De Jong.
