From Argentina to Barcelona and beyond, Lionel Messi has garnered a loving fanbase around the world. One would think that when it comes to his family, the recent World Cup winning captain would receive unfiltered support. Well, not exactly when it comes to his second son, Mateo.
The 36-year-old would recently share instances of how Mateo ruffles his feathers.
“When Mateo plays with me in the backyard, he goes “I’m Liverpool and Valencia because they beat you!” Messi told TyC Sports.
But that’s not it, even the Barcelona-Real Madrid rivalry isn’t considered a sacred boundary to be crossed. “At home when Thiago and Mateo are watch football together, Mateo will celebrate Real Madrid goals to piss off his bro.”
Messi is currently part of the Argentina national team that will face Bolivia on Tuesday in La Paz, which is roughly 3000 ft away from the sea level.
Having recently joined Inter Miami from Paris Saint Germain, the Argentine has been in sensational form of late and scored the only goal in a 1-0 win against Ecuador. He was however substituted towards the end of the game with a possible injury scare.
“Leo was tired the other day and asked to be substituted,” Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni explained afterwards. “But it’s not needed that we speak to him before matches. We’ll see as it goes.”
