Joao Palhinha's proposed move from Fulham to Bayern Munich has fallen through, talkSPORT understands.
The Portugal international was unable to seal a dream switch to the Champions League regulars before the close of the German transfer window at 5pm UK time.
Palhinha had already been photographed at Bayern's Sabener Strasse training ground for his medical checks.
Reports from Germany claimed he passed the tests, and even posed in what would have been his new kit.
But the Cottagers ultimately refused to sanction his departure after they failed to identify a replacement for him.
The 28-year-old will now be turning his attention to Fulham's clash away at Premier League leaders Manchester City on Saturday.
Marco Silva's side had earlier quoted Bayern a price of £80million for Palhinha, with manager Thomas Tuchel desperate to sign a specialist defensive midfielder.
A fee of around £58m looked set to be agreed, but Fulham fans will be delighted that the German giants ran out of time to take their star man.
There were fears among Premier League rivals Liverpool that the deal's collapse may impact their signing of Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern.
However, it appears that won't be the case, with the £34m midfielder set to be announced as Jurgen Klopp's latest signing.
