Gabriel Jesus has encouraged his Arsenal teammates to believe that they can win the Champions League following their 2-1 win over Sevilla. The 26-year-old striker helped the Gunners secure top-spot in Group B with a stellar performance against the Spanish giants.
He provided an excellent assist for Gabriel Martinelli to put his side ahead at the end of the first-half before doubling the Gunners' lead shortly at the break with a stunning individual strike. However, unfortunately for Jesus, his display on Tuesday night was tainted by hamstring issue which Mikel Arteta has described as 'worrying'.
Speaking post-match, the Arsenal manager heaped tremendous praise on his striker and issued an initial assessment of his injury. Arteta said: «Really happy with that part. Big games are for big players.
»He needed to produce those moments to win in a stadium like this. He’s done it for us in a really big way. Then, really sad because he felt something in his hamstring and I’m worried about that."
While the severity of Jesus' problem remains to be seen, he has remained hopeful, insisting that it's not a big problem. As quoted by ESPN, the Brazil international said: «Let's see. I did some tests with the physio, it looks not that big [a problem], but let's see. I have a scan. I'm pretty sure it will be nothing.»
Then, on Arsenal's chance of winning the Champions League, Jesus' optimism continued to shine through, adding: «It's a competition that I love, like the Premier League. All the competitions I love, because I just love to play football.
