Gabriel Magalhaes sends message amid Arsenal injury doubt for huge Man City clash
Mikel Arteta has a number of Arsenal injury concerns ahead of the huge Premier League clash against Manchester City. The Gunners headed into the March international break top of the table having also qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals.
While many stars headed off to represent their national team, the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Thomas Partey and Gabriel Martinelli remained in north London because of injury concerns. Bukayo Saka then joined that group back at London Colney after it was announced on Thursday that he was set to withdraw from the England squad.
Concerns over the 22-year-old emerged after he missed the outdoor session at St George's Park earlier in the week with those proven to be worthwhile given the update from Gareth Southgate and his early departure from international duty.
Saka is not currently a doubt to face Man City with his return to Arsenal a precaution. Prior to that, Gabriel Magalhaes also withdrew from international duty with Brazil confirming he would miss their upcoming friendlies.
After not being included in the first three starting XI's of the season, Gabriel has been a key figure in the Arsenal defence that has kept nine clean sheets with him in the team. An inflamed Achilles tendon was revealed as the injury for the 26-year-old missing out on representing his nation with issues in that area in need of careful management.
Despite those concerns, Gabriel certainly appears in good spirits judging by his latest social media post with a loved one. On Instagram, roughly translated from Portuguese to English, he wrote: «Hppy bday, may God bless and light your way always. You can always count on me, love you.»
