Cobh Ramblers have appointed Gary Hunt as the club’s new first team manager.
Ramblers have moved swiftly to replace former manager Shane Keegan, who announced he was leaving the role last Thursday following a successful period in charge.
Keegan, who guided Ramblers to a third-place finish in the 2023 and back-to-back Munster Senior Cup triumphs, was forced to step down from the managerial post due to other work commitments.
His replacement - Hunt - joins the Rams from Waterford where during his time there as first team coach, he helped the Blues secure promotion to the Premier Division for 2024 while previously he served the club as interim manager and Head of Academy amongst other roles.
“After speaking to the club I was impressed at the progress Cobh has made both on and off the pitch, especially the development of St Colman’s Park," Hunt told the club's official website.
"I have had an excellent few seasons with Waterford and although it was a difficult decision to make following promotion, my own personal ambition is to become a head coach.
"I am excited with the challenge this brings and I am looking forward to working hard alongside the club, the fans, the board, the volunteers and the players and the staff to help Cobh Ramblers be competitive in the First Division for the 2024 season.
"Having worked in the First Division over the past number of seasons I know what the league is all about and hopefully those experiences will help in the year ahead with Cobh.
"I have a busy few weeks ahead prior to returning for pre-season and I’m looking forward to it all. Come on the Rams!”
