Gary Neville has caught the hilarious moment an embarrassed Paul Scholes was serenaded at a restaurant by live performing musicians.
The Manchester United icons were out for a Christmas meal at a fine diner when Neville captured the moment on his phone before posting the footage onto Instagram. The video shows two musicians playing the cello and saxophone in tandem with Scholes the subject of the 1967 song ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’.
The cello player is first seen wrapping his hand around the shoulder of Scholes, who looks comically awkward, while signing the verse before breaking off into the chorus with his instrument.

The musician continues to sing towards Scholes, who subsequently turns to a hysterical Neville and gives him the middle finger in response to his phone recording. Neville captioned the post ‘I love you Scholesy’.
Neville and Scholes have remained friends since their retirement from football, playing together for both England and United. Neville retired in 2011 after winning 12 Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues and four FA Cups in 602 games across 19 years.
After coming back out of retirement in 2011, Scholes hung up his boots for good in 2013 after lifting Sir Alex Ferguson’s final Premier League title having also won an extraordinary amount of silverware in his career. He ended up with 713 first-team United appearances, scoring 155 goals and assisting 82 more.
Both have since gone into punditry, with Neville the flagship analyst with Sky Sports while Scholes covers United’s European games on TNT Sports.
