Revealed: The staggering loss Man Utd could make on Jadon Sancho loan as Borussia Dortmund open talks
United are close to sealing a loan deal for Sancho with Dortmund. The transfer will see the outcast spend the rest of the campaign at his former club but will come at a cost. Dortmund have so far only offered to pay a third of Sancho's £300,000-a-week wages during the loan, according to The Times. All of which means that United would end up paying the rest and would have to shell out £5.2 million (€5.9m/$6.5m) to Sancho for the rest of the season even though he will be plying his trade elsewhere.
Dortmund are unwilling to pay Sancho's full wages as it would instantly make him the team's top earner and could potentially cause unrest in the dressing room. The team's current highest earner is Niklas Sule, who currently pockets around £166,000 a week, a little over half Sancho's weekly wage. United surely won't be too happy with Dortmund's low offer but may be forced to accept as it could be the only way to offload Sancho. The winger has been exiled since falling out with Erik ten Hag and appears to have no future at the club as things stand.
Sancho has scored a Premier League goal at Old Trafford more recently than either Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Antony. That strike came last season in a 2-1 win over Fulham on May 28.
Sancho appears to be closing in on a move back to Dortmund where he will hope he can resurrect his career after a difficult time at United. The 23-year-old scored 50 goals and registered 57 assists in 137 appearances for Dortmund before signing for the Red Devils for a fee of £73 million ($101m) in 2021.
