Gary Neville has told Arsenal that the only way they can possibly win the Premier League is by beating Manchester City in their upcoming match this weekend. Despite having a one-point lead over the champions, Mikel Arteta's side haven't seen success against City at the Etihad since 2015.
Famous for stringing together impressive winning streaks later in the season,Neville suggests that Manchester City could potentially win all their remaining games, leaving no room for mistakes from the Gunners. He told The Overlap:. «With the run-in, I think [Arsenal] have to win on Sunday.
»You always have to imagine that City are going to be perfect. Unfortunately, we're at the point in the season where they could win eight games on the bounce. I don't think Arsenal will."
«The reason I say you have to win is because I am not sure who else is going to take points off City on the journey. Of course, they could drop points, it's football. But that's why I think [Sunday is] so important. City would be disappointed with a draw but I think to damage them, and to give you the full belief, I think you need to win,» reports the Mirror.
Arsenal are heading to the Etihad Stadium with a stronger team than last year and have already beaten City twice this year in the Community Shield and reverse fixture. After learning from their 4-1 defeat 12 months on Neville thinks it's a big chance for Arsenal to show how much they've grown.
«It's a beautiful game for Arsenal,» he said. «In the sense, it's a beautiful game for us to watch Arsenal, to think about the fact you go back 12 months, there is a direct parallel between last season and this season.»
