Large sections of the Chelsea fanbase have urged Todd Boehly to pull the plug on Mauricio Pochettino's tenure following defeat to Aston Villa. Ollie Watkins guided Unai Emery's side to a 1-0 win over the Blues at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, scoring his first goal of the Premier League campaign.
Despite forking out nearly £1billion on new players in the last 12-months, Chelsea's only win in the English top-flight this term has come against Luton Town. The west Londoners sit in the bottom half of the table on just five points after six games, and Pochettino is under pressure to turn things around.
However, while the 51-year-old has called for patience, some Blues fans have encouraged Boehly to find a new manager already. Taking to X, which is formerly known as Twitter, supporters rushed to the social media platform upon the final whistle to make their feelings known.
One user, by the handle @VdykCFC posted: «1 win in 6 games despite having one of the easiest fixture lineups in the entire league. Outdated/boring football with no control or cutting edge, enough is enough Bring someone in who knows some these younger players & plays actual good football — get De Zerbi in, @todd_boehly.»
Meanwhile, @CFCDaily posted: «Wouldn’t bat an eyelid if he was sacked, if your whole pre season gets ripped up because of an Nkunku injury you aren’t tactically inept. You have 3 left backs on the bench and he’s not using one.
»You are forcing Silva into the lineup when one of the best centre backs in the league is being forced to go as a left back. Has a history of not being able to break down low blocks as it is. Sanchez has stopped this from being 3-0 minimum."
