Luke McCullough concedes the Clearer Water Irish Cup provides Glentoran with the best platform to win a major trophy this season.
Although it was far from pretty, the east Belfast boys booked their sixth round slot following a hard-fought win over gutsy Annagh United at the BetMcLean Oval on Saturday.
It took a last-minute goal from striker Junior Uzokwe to guarantee the Glens a trip to Premier Intermediate League side Ballymacash Rangers on February 3.
Former Northern Ireland international defender McCullough admitted Warren Feeney’s men achieved what they set out to do — reach the next round.

“I would have taken any sort of win, I’m just glad we got it done in 90 minutes,” said McCullough, who came up against his brother Scott in the Annagh midfield.
“To be fair they, they put up a good fight. Sometimes games go like that when teams come and sit in and make it difficult. They set up well and had a good shape; they stuck to their game plan and looked to hit us on the break.
“We know we’ll need to be better than that going forward. We need to move the ball quicker, play at our tempo instead of playing the game to suit our opponents, if we want to put games to bed. We still have a lot to learn.
“When the goal did come, it was probably worth waiting for. It was well worked between Daire (O’Connor) and Fudzer (Fuad Sule), who slipped a nice wee reverse pass to Junior, who finished it well.
