The field for the Grand National has been reduced to 32 just hours before the race is due to get underway as two horses were declared non-runners.
In the past, Aintree's showpiece race has seen 40 horses take part in the world-famous steeplechase though that number was reduced to 34 this year in order to improve safety. The going is now soft but separate cases of lameness have ruled Chambard and Run Wild Fred out of the running.
Venetia Williams-trained Chambard was a 66-1 outsider when withdrawn on Saturday. Amateur jockey Lucy Turner, who rode the the same horse to victory in the Becher Chase at Aintree in December, would have been aiming to become the second female after Rachael Blackmore to win the Grand National.

And later on Run Wild Fred was also declared a non-runner as the Gordon Elliott-trained 50/1 chance suffered from a similar issue. The 2021 Irish Grand National runner-up was hoping for better fortune than his Ultima Handicap Chase performance at Cheltenham last month, during which he pulled up, but unfortunately won't have the chance to bounce back on Merseyside.
Elsewhere, another shock came with Sire Du Berlais being pulled from the running of the JRL Group Liverpool Hurdle at 15:05, as he will now be unable to defend his crown from back-to-back wins in 2022 and 2023.
Here is the full list of non-runners in the 2024 Randox Health Grand National:
19 Run Wild Fred (lameness)
