Harvey Elliott believes Liverpool have to become "selfish" and completely ignore rivals Arsenal and Manchester City after the Premier League title race took another twist.
The Reds' destiny was wrenched from their own hands after they spurned a succession of chances in the 2-2 draw at bitter North West rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
Arsenal are now the new leaders thanks to a vastly superior goal difference compared to Jurgen Klopp's side, with champions City a further point adrift.

But Elliott has urged Liverpool to ignore the results of their two fellow championship contenders given their own "tough finish" to the campaign over the remaining seven games.
"We just need to be selfish with ourselves," he said. "We can't be thinking about other teams and watching what they are doing and basing our games off them. We need to keep being selfish and keep getting three points on the board.
"We are in the best possible position to do it, we've got unbelievable fans behind us that will be backing us in each and every game until the end of the season. We have the team to do it, so who says we can't? We just need to keep going and keep taking it game by game, making sure we are recovered both physically and mentally and keep going. It will be a tough finish but we just need to keep going."
Elliott came off the bench to win the late penalty converted by Mohamed Salah that earned Liverpool a point at Old Trafford and ensured they have still only lost two Premier League games this season.
