Igor Tudor has replaced Maurizio Sarri on the bench at Lazio and there is one player with whom he has already forged a connection – Mattéo Guendouzi (24).
Tudor worked with Guendouzi in his one and only season at Olympique de Marseille. The latter played 43 times under the former last season, scoring five goals and registering five assists, although towards the end of the campaign, the Frenchman did play a reduced role, often making appearances from the bench.

Citing personal reasons, Tudor left Marseille at the end of the campaign, having guided the club to third in Ligue 1 and Guendouzi followed him out the door, joining Lazio in the summer transfer window. The pair will now be reunited and Tudor was full of praise for the former Marseille and Arsenal midfielder.
“I haven’t seen him yet, but he’s a winner. He has an extraordinary mentality, which we need at a club like this, and in particular in a city like Rome, where the expectations are very high,” Tudortold Lazio’s club channel.
Guendouzi is currently away on international duty with Les Bleus. He has received his first call-up by Didier Deschamps since the 2022 Qatar World Cup. He replaced Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, who was forced to withdraw with an ankle injury.
