Conor Gallagher seems to absolutely love playing at Selhurst Park — both for Crystal Palace and Chelsea. In the 2021/22 season, the England international was on loan at the Eagles and managed to score eight goals from midfield on the way to helping Palace finish fourteenth in the table.
Just a few months later, Gallagher was back in south London but this time in a Chelsea shirt and he marked his return by scoring a stunning last-minute winner for the Blues. Prior to the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino, Gallagher played a bit-part role with Chelsea significantly struggling for consistency.
In the lead up to the January transfer window and during the month, Gallagher was constantly linked with an exit despite being one of Chelsea's best performers in the first half of the 2023/24 season. London rivals Tottenham were strongly linked and despite a move never materialising, Gallagher's name has still been in the headlines, but this time for his impact on the pitch. The 24-year-old scored his first goal of the season in the 3-1 FA Cup fourth round victory against Aston Villa last week.
Showing that wasn't just a freak occurrence, Gallagher then grabbed an important equaliser against his former club Crystal Palace. Later in the second half, just as he did last season, Gallagher scored a last-gasp winner with Enzo Fernandez then making sure of the result deep into stoppage time.
Gallagher's goal scoring abilities that were on display during his most recent loan spell appear to be back this time in a Chelsea shirt, however he endured a very different temporary spell the previous season at West Brom.
