Rasmus Hojlund was delighted after Liverpool's Europa League hammering by Serie A side Atalanta on Thursday evening.
The Manchester United star moved to Old Trafford from the Italian side in a £70m transfer last summer and evidently still follows his side's progress.
Atalanta stunned Anfield as former West Ham striker Gianluca Scammaca scored twice in the 3-0 win that left Jurgen Klopp outraged and Liverpool's European ambitions in tatters.
Hojlund took to social media as he revelled in his former club's success that was surely made sweeter given Man United's fierce rivalry with Liverpool.
United and Hojlund have similarly celebrated recent impressive results against Liverpool, with the Dane starting their sensational FA Cup comeback victory and follow-up 2-2 Premier League draw.
Posting an immediate reaction after Atalanta's victory, Hojlund posted a picture of the scoreline on his social media alongside the caption: 'Mola Mia' next to the image of a lion emoji.
The comment is a local saying to the Bergamo region of Italy where Atalanta are based and Hojlund previously spent just under a year living in before moving to Manchester.
It translates in most languages to ‘never give up' and is a message of inspiration across Bergamo in the northern part of Italy,
Hojlund only spent a short time playing for the Italian top-flight side, scoring 10 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions and it was his impressive performances there that earned him a move to Old Trafford.
Liverpool fans were miserable as Atalanta dominated the Europa League encounter that saw the hosts fail to reply to either of their three strikes.
The result dealt Klopp's aim of a fairytale ending at Liverpool before he leaves the club in the summer a huge blow
