With just one win in their last eight games in Ligue 1, OGC Nice have had a spectacular fall from grace. Les Aiglons have spent almost the entire season on the podium, and qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League had looked a likelihood, however, the club’s dire run risks seeing Nice missing out on European football, and all the while, cracks are beginning to appear in the dressing room.
After having beaten RC Lens just a week earlier, Nice returned to losing ways at home against FC Nantes on Sunday (1-2). The inquest into that defeat has already begun and fingers are being pointed. “I don’t understand some attitudes in the team […] we’ll speak about it in the dressing room, not in front of the camera,” said goalkeeper Marcin Bulka, who passed through the mixed zone post-match.
“I don’t know if it is collective; I’d say it’s about individuals. Everyone needs to look themselves in the eyes and ask themselves if they are showing desire. Today, for me, some of them showed that they didn’t have that desire,” added the Polish international.
“It’s true that something isn’t working. We’re not getting the results that we want,” added Evann Guessand in a post-match interview with Prime Video Sport. Nice are seemingly in search of unity, as well as results, as they look to reverse the trend and re-assert their European credentials.
