Cody Gakpo left members of Sky Sports' studio stunned after his post-match gesture involving Curtis Jones after Liverpool's 5-1 Carabao Cup quarter-final win over West Ham United on Wednesday evening.
Jones was voted man of the match for his performance in the comprehensive win over the Hammers, which saw the midfielder score two high-quality individual goals to stake a claim for a starting spot against Arsenal on Saturday evening in the Premier League.
Regular first-team chances have proven hard to come by for the 22-year-old, who fell further down the pecking order this summer following the arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Wataru Endo.

Taking his chance on Wednesday, however, Jones shone in the absence of Mac Allister and Gravenberch and will have his heart set on a consistent run in the side over the festive period.
One individual who was keen to congratulate the Liverpool Academy graduate on his eye-catching display was Gakpo, who had a clear message before handing his team-mate the Carabao Cup man-of-the-match award: "A quick word," began the Dutchman.
"I'm really proud of you. You work really hard and nobody sees it obviously because it's behind closed doors. You deserve all the best, keep going." Responding to this, Jones said: "Appreciate you, as always, brother."
