Inter Miami’s first preseason match, a 0-0 draw against El Salvador, left several questions that the team and coaching staff will surely have already taken into account to continue their preparations for the 2024 MLS season.
Just a few hours after the scoreless draw against El Salvador, Inter Miami flew home to begin preparations for the next pre-season fixture against FC Dallas at the Cotton Bowl Stadium.
However, the truth cannot be hidden that the match against La Selecta was more difficult than expected. Added to the stodgy game is the worry with which The Herons returned to Miami: there is concern over Facundo Farías, who had to leave the field on a stretcher after a moment of madness in midfield against Darwin Ceren.
This is probably the most frustrating aspect of the trip to El Salvador and what Inter Miami believe could overshadow a special night on Salvadoran soil where Messimania was the theme as the fans gave their all for the 8-time Ballon d’Or winner.
At the end of the match, images were shared of Facundo Farias being helped to walk: his injury, while unknown to the public, may be a serious issue and could sideline him for the rest of the preseason, pending official confirmation from the club after medical examinations were performed on the player.
Although Inter Miami are looking to reach their optimum level after this preseason tour, one issue to consider in the meantime is indeed injuries.
