Loughgall's Pablo Andrade was booked for his goal celebration during the Villagers' clash with Linfield
An investigation has been launched into an alleged racist comment made towards Loughgall player Pablo Andrade by a Linfield supporter during Saturday’s Sports Direct Premiership fixture between the sides at Windsor Park.
Sunday Life Sport understands that, after Andrade scored a brilliant equaliser on the stroke of half-time in his team’s 5-1 defeat and celebrated in front of the Linfield fans, one of his Loughgall team-mates informed the referee’s assistant about the alleged abuse from the South Stand, which was then reported to referee Steven Gregg.
It is believed that the incident will be in the referee’s report, which will lead to an Irish FA probe into the matter.
After the match, Loughgall and Linfield began their own investigations into what happened, with Andrade’s wellbeing their immediate focus.
The clubs have a good relationship and are keen to work together regarding the alleged racist remark and take the necessary action.
Andrade was booked following his celebrations and goal, which drew Loughgall level at the break, before the Blues ran away with the contest in the second-half.
Linfield had taken the lead through Joel Cooper’s deflected strike, with Matthew Clarke, Chris McKee (2) and Darragh McBrien also on target for the League leaders.
