Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be hoping to have Eddie Nketiah available for the Premier League clash against Burnley this weekend as his side look to continue their good momentum from midweek.
The Gunners moved one step closer towards qualification for the Champions League knockout stages after goals from Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka put away La Liga side Sevilla on Wednesday night. The result provided a much-needed bounce back from domestic defeats against West Ham and Newcastle but they suffered even more injury worries on the European stage.
Saka was forced off after landing awkwardly following a challenge for a header, having to be withdrawn in favour of Jakub Kiwior late on. It's another attacking option potentially ruled out for this weekend's bout against Vincent Kompany's side with numerous others set for spells on the sideline.
Eddie Nketiah is also a doubt for the weekend after he was ruled out of action ahead of the Sevilla match. The 24-year-old suffered a knock on his ankle against the Magpies over the weekend, and was forced to miss out on the senior squad's final training session before the match.
It comes after Gabriel Jesus has missed multiple weeks following a preseason injury and another in the reverse fixture against Sevilla when he went down clutching his hamstring. Emile Smith Rowe is another one in the treatment room, with the Gunners boss unsure about how he can balance out his attacking ranks.
«I don’t know [where that perfect balance is],» Arteta said. «It’s just what we have. If you look at Gabi Jesus he’s only played one game in the Premier League (up front), he played three in the CL and scored four goals. It’s what it is.
