West Ham United could be without Jarrod Bowen for Saturday's Premier League fixture against Burnley.
Bowen was selected in the England squad but didn't manage to play in either of the European Championship qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia. The forward withdrew from international duty with a knee injury.
Bowen's issue is a blow for West Ham, who can go as high as eighth in the table should they beat Burnley and Brighton lose at Nottingham Forest. Bowen was on the bench for England's EURO 2024 qualifier against Malta last Friday, but he didn't travel to North Macedonia as he faced a potential injury worry after picking up a knock on international training duty. England boss Gareth Southgate thought it would be best for him to receive treatment back in the UK as opposed to flying out to eastern Europe, saying: «Unfortunately Jarrod picked up an injury, I think he felt it a little bit yesterday and again at the end of training today.
“We didn’t really have enough time to assess it fully and make a really accurate decision before the game so we felt better to leave him in England so that he can get it properly assessed. I don’t think it’s going to be anything serious but we just didn’t have enough time and we wouldn’t take a risk in that situation.”
Meanwhile, a statement on the West Ham website said that Bowen, alongside Michail Antonio and Mohammed Kudus, would be assessed
