Jamie Carragher and Paul Merson believe Manchester City will win the Premier League title yet again next season despite Arsenal spending £200million in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners had a sensational 2022/23 campaign, running Pep Guardiola's side close only to falter at the back end of the season. Mikel Arteta will want to go one further come May next year and the signings of Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice — for a combined total of more than £200million — shows clear intent.
But Man City will take some beating and teams such as Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea will also fancy their chances. Former Arsenal star Merson has already made his prediction and believes the blue half of Manchester will be champions once more.
He told Sportskeeda: «I can’t look past Manchester City for the Premier League title. With Ilkay Gundogan gone and Kyle Walker on his way out, it might be difficult for them this season.
»Arsenal could give them a run for their money, but City’s bench is very strong and Declan Rice will need to get used to the way Arsenal play. They move the ball around a lot faster than he’s used to at West Ham and England. Arsenal could get close, but I don’t see Liverpool mounting a challenge at the moment.
«A lot depends on whether Manchester United can get Harry Kane. If they do, they’re massive challengers for the Premier League title. If they don’t, they’ll still be fighting for a place in the top four.
Gary Neville makes bold £300m claim in Manchester United and Arsenal Premier League prediction
»I don’t think Chelsea will get into the top four – there’s too much work to be done at the moment. They’ve got a big squad without a midfield, and they’ve got rid of Mateo Kovacic and Mason Mount.
