Jamie Carragher has already pointed Jurgen Klopp towards Moises Caicedo, with Chelsea rejoining Liverpool in the race to sign Romeo Lavia. The former has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer but, with the Blues struggling to make progress on a potential deal, Mauricio Pochettino has set his sights on the latter.
football.london understands that the Blues have already had three bids for the Brighton star rejected and they're expected to submit a fourth in the coming days. Chelsea are confident that they can secure Caicedo's signature, although the Seagulls have outlined – and stuck by – a £100million asking price.
As for Lavia, football.london understands that the west Londoners are huge admirers and he's somebody who has been on their radar for a while. It's believed that Chelsea initially opened talks with Southampton over a potential deal a couple of months ago, but nothing progressed despite having conducted extensive scouting research.
It remains to be seen whether the Blues will try and sign both Caicedo and Lavia but, if they are focusing on a deal for the Southampton ace then Liverpool could catch Todd Boehly off guard if they heed Carragher's advice. Venting his frustration on Twitter, the former Reds defender wrote: «Not sure why Liverpool aren’t in for Caicedo, yes it’s a lot of money but Liverpool got big money for Jordan Henderson + Fabinho.»
