Virgil van Dijk has admitted he's aware of all the ongoing Liverpool transfer speculation, and trusts the club to improve their squad further before the transfer window closes in September.
The Reds have lost a number of senior players so far this summer, including Jordan Henderson and Fabinho following unexpected exits to Saudi Arabia, with Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai the only incomings so far. As a result, Jurgen Klopp’s squad remain without a holding midfielder on the eve of the new season.
It has not been for lack of trying to fill such a void though, with Liverpool having three offers for Romeo Lavia rejected by Southampton before making a club-record £110m bid for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo. While the Seagulls accepted that initial package, reports now suggest Chelsea are closing in on the Ecuador international with a £115m move.
Inevitably, there has been plenty of transfer speculation around the Reds this summer as they look to complete a long-awaited midfield revamp. While Caicedo and Lavia have dominated recent headlines, Liverpool have also been linked with a plethora of other players.
