Jamie Carragher says Virgil van Dijk is best centre-back in Premier League history - names who can partner him
Jamie Carragher has claimed that Virgil an Dijk is the best centre-back in Premier League history after he scored in the win against Luton Town.
The Reds managed to come from behind and secure all three points at Anfield on Wednesday evening, putting them four points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
Liverpool went into this match with as many as 11 key players injured, including Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota. Dominik Szoboszlai and Trent Alexander-Arnold were also out of action.

Despite these setbacks, Liverpool didn't let Luton's 1-0 lead at half time prevent them from winning. They came back fighting in the second half, emerging victorious for the 22nd time this season after trailing.
Captain Van Dijk started the comeback in the 56th minute with a header past Thomas Kaminski in the Luton goal. Cody Gakpo then put the Reds in front just two minutes later before Luis Diaz scored to send the Kop wild. Harvey Elliott sealed the win in the final moments of his 100th match for the club.
Van Dijk's performance clearly impressed Liverpool legend Carragher. He was working on CBS Sports' Champions League coverage on Wednesday night but fellow pundit Micah Richards shared a clip on Instagram of Carragher watching Liverpool's highlights.
Richards asked Carragher for his thoughts on the goal, and Carragher was full of praise: "You don't need to analyse that. Look at the colossus, look at him, look at him! A marvel of modern science. He is the best centre-back the Premier League has ever seen, by a mile."
