Jhon Duran has already answered Chelsea transfer question as Todd Boehly sent 'dream' message
Chelsea have been given a major boost to their hopes of signing Jhon Duran. The 20-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge recently as Mauricio Pochettino hopes to further bolster his frontline before the January transfer window slams shut.
Duran, who joined Aston Villa from Chicago Fire last year, has featured 14 times for Unai Emery's side in the Premier League this season, scoring twice and providing one assist. His low tally can be put down to limited game time — the Colombia international is yet to start a game in the English top flight and he's averaged less than a quarter of an hour per appearance.
Opportunities in the Premier League have been hard to come by for Duran this term, with Ollie Watkins enjoying an excellent vein of form, tallying nine goals and eight assists. As a result, the Colombian has been reduced to cameo displays and select starts in the Europa League.
Nevertheless, Duran has reportedly managed to court the interest of Chelsea. According to The Telegraph, the Blues are considering a bid for the youngster before the end of the January transfer window, but Aston Villa are thought to have already rejected an enquiry from West Ham.
The report states that Duran wants more game time but, given that he's cup-tied in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, it seems unlikely that Chelsea will be able to make any promises. Not to mention that the Blues already have Armando Broja, Christopher Nkunku, who will soon return from injury, and Nicolas Jackson, who is due back from the Africa Cup of Nations.
