Cliftonville boss Jim Magilton's side will face a test of their title credentials against Linfield
David Healy's side have collected just one point from their last three Premiership games
Jim Magilton says that he and his Cliftonville side are primed for Linfield to “put up a show” in Tuesday night’s titanic tussle at Solitude.
The Reds leapfrogged David Healy’s side into second spot in the Sports Direct Premiership over the weekend and, though his team can go top of the table with victory, Magilton is well aware that the Blues will be champing at the bit to get back to winning ways after registering just a single point from their last three League outings.
Magilton — who was on television commentary duty when Cliftonville last got the better of Linfield in January 2023 — says he enjoyed his first taste of the occasion from the dugout when the Blues visited Solitude earlier this season but, having narrowly lost out that night, is eager to toast a happier ending this time round.
“It’s a big game and you only get that when you’re in it,” he declared.
“It’s great turning up as a spectator back in the day and enjoying it, but it’s even better as a manager because you know what it brings and you know what the atmosphere is going to be like.
“Earlier in the season was my first taste of it as a manager here and I loved every minute of it, although we were on the wrong end of the result. On another night, we win that game, but the Linfield that David Healy has built is around winning and it’s around success.
“The next game was always going to be important for us no matter who we played, but there’s no doubting this is a huge one.”
