Jurgen Klopp has dismissed concerns over Mohamed Salah's form following Liverpool's exit from the Europa League.
The Reds boss isn't making a 'big story' out of the forward's performance during a challenging night against Atalanta, despite Salah finding the back of the net. Liverpool's 1-0 victory at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia, saw them eliminated from the Europa League due to Atalanta's 3-0 triumph at Anfield the previous week.
Salah missed a crucial opportunity to reduce Liverpool's deficit and was substituted in the second half even though Klopp's team needed a number of goals. Since returning from a hamstring injury earlier this year, the 31-year-old hasn't shown his usual sharpness, but he has still managed to score 24 goals this season.
«I'm not particularly concerned,» Klopp said. «That's what strikers do. We have to go through it, he has to go through it.
»He is one of the most experienced players in the squad. That's pretty much all. It's not that Mo hasn't missed chances before in his life, that's part of the game.
«The penalty was super convincing, a super penalty then the next chance that was unlucky, but it's not the first time he has missed chances like that. I won't make a big story of it. I'm not particularly concerned.
»The biggest problem in the second half was that we couldn't keep the tempo. You saw Trent, a player we didn't have for a while. As long as he was fresh together with Macca he set the tempo and rhythm but was running out of gas and Macca had to go through this game and the way he did it was absolutely insane.
