Katie Taylor has vacated her World lightweight title to bring an end to her reign as a two-weight undisputed World champion and set up a potential trilogy against Chantelle Cameron.
Taylor had been the holder of the belts at 135lb and 140lb ever since she famously defeated Chantelle Cameron at the 3 Arena on November 25.
The Bray native's future now seems to lie in the light-welterweight division after giving up her IBF lightweight belt, which she has held since beating Victoria Bustos in April 2018.
The following June, the 37-year old overcame Delfine Persoon to be crowned undisputed lightweight champion.
In total, the Olympic goal medalist defended those belts on seven occasions before moving up to light-welterweight when she faced Chantelle Cameron twice in 2023, losing the first in Dublin before gaining revenge in the rematch.
According to Sky Sports, Taylor has now relinquished her lightweight title, with Caroline Dubois' upcoming bout against Rhiannon Dixon mandated to be for the vacant belt.
This move is likely to have a significant impact on Taylor's next fight - a third and deciding fight against Cameron - which she is hoping will take place at a sold-out Croke Park.
