The Katumba Halloween Carnival Parade returns to the city centre for a brand new fearsome showcase.
On Saturday, October 28, horrifying monsters, creatures and demons known as 'zonbi' will take to the streets. The city centre will be filled with thunderous music as Katumba marches through the area with all ages welcome to watch the performance unfold.
The theme for this year's carnival is 'zonbi.' Instead of exploring the conventional depiction of‘ zombies, the theme delves into its origin, with the Kongo word for 'soul', 'nzambi', eventually transformed into 'zonbi' as enslaved Africans were taken to Haiti.

Through this cultural fusion, the Vodou religion emerged, combining African traditions with the Caribbean. The 'zonbi' theme symbolizes the eternal connection between the living and the departed.
The carnival will start at 7.30pm on Bold Street and make its way through the city including Church Street, with a finale at Liverpool ONE.
