Luis Diaz's mother, Cilenis Marulanda, has been seen publicly for the first time since her kidnapping after leading a march to demand for the release of his father, Luis Manuel Diaz.
Both of the Liverpool star's parents were taken near their home in the La Guajira region of Colombia on Saturday. Four armed men on motorcycles were responsible for the kidnapping, although they freed Diaz's mother later that night.
His father remains a hostage however as Colombia's police and military forces work together as they endeavour to bring him home safely. Diaz spoke on social media to share details of the march, which his mother was an integral figure in. He also those involved to "bring candles to light the light of hope" whilst urging Diaz Snr's captors to "free him now".
Diaz, who was left out of Liverpool's win over Nottingham Forest at the weekend, did not take part in the march after being advised against returning to his homeland amid concerns over his safety.
Among the hundreds of people in the crowd were Alfonso Diaz, the Liverpool star's paternal grandfather, and his uncle, Gabriel. A reward of 200 million Colombian pesos - around £40,000 - is being offered for information on the potential whereabouts of Diaz Snr.
Cilenis was seen wearing a t-shirt with her partner's face on the front, alongside the caption 'Freedom to Manuel Diaz', while others carried white balloons through the streets.
Separate posters were also held up during the march reading 'No kidnappings, freedom to Manuel' as hundreds demanded for his safe release.
