Gabriel Barbosa has previously admitted he would like to join Liverpool, which could prove to be a problem for Manchester United.
United could be in the market for attacking reinforcements in the new year as their struggles in front of goal have continued this season, with star signing Rasmus Hojlund yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League. Erik ten Hag's side have been linked with Barbosa in recent days in a potential January move.
Barbosa, commonly known as Gabigol, plays in his home country of Brazil for Flamengo and has netted 18 times this season. According to the Sunday Mirror, United are even willing to offer Antony on loan in order to secure the striker.

Barbosa returned to Brazil in 2021 after a big transfer to Inter didn't work out but before making the move he suggested he would love to play for United's fierce rivals Liverpool. “Firmino is great, I really admire him. He’s been successful for many years in Europe," he was quoted as saying by the the Daily Mail.
"He is a powerful forward and he has been great for Brazil. He is an inspiration that I look up to. It would be a pleasure to play with him. Maybe we could team up for Brazil in the future and Liverpool is a team that everyone wants to play for.”
Then in July 2021, Barbosa moved to praise Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. He told The Sun: “Liverpool have a very interesting team and a fantastic coach.”
