Keane and Richards caught in fan row as police investigate assault

Sky Sports pundits Roy Keane and Micah Richards had been seen in an altercation with a fan towards the end of the game, which is now being investigated.

Police have launched an investigation into alleged assault as Sky Sports pundits Roy Keane and Micah Richards were seen confronting a spectator during Sunday's clash between Arsenal and Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium.

The pair were both working for the broadcaster for their production of the match, joined alongside former player Theo Walcott and presenter David Jones on the panel. Footage had emerged later in the day that seemingly showed a few seconds of the altercation that took place.

In the clip that spread on social media, Richards was seen speaking to someone while grabbing their shirt by the collar with both hands. A person in a suit appears to attempt breaking up the heated moment, but failed to separate the pair as others look on in the background.

Keane is then seen getting involved as he moves across to speak to the person in question, also seemingly grabbing his shirt in the process. It is claimed by the Express that the incident took place just before the pair were set to start their punditry duties on the side of the pitch.

There have since been allegations of a headbutt thrown at Keane that saw someone thrown out of the Emirates by security. A statement from the Met police confirmed that there was an ongoing investigation, but no arrests had been made at the time of the statement.

The statement reads: "Police are investigating following an assault that is alleged to have occurred at the Emirates Stadium during an Arsenal v Manchester United match on Sunday, 3 September."
