We have now entered the final 10 days of the 2023 summer transfer window and for Chelsea, it is set to be an extremely busy week-and-a-half.
The Blues have already brought in eight new signings, including multiple youth players, in a near-£350million spending spree this summer. Mauricio Pochettino, who has one point from his first two matches as Chelsea head coach, is still expecting at least a couple more signings before the window closes, football.london understands.
Meanwhile, there are still expected to be multiple departures in the final stages of the transfer window with the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Callum Hudson-Odoi looking to leave Stamford Bridge on permanent deals. There is perhaps scope for others to leave as well, with the futures of Trevoh Chalobah and Conor Gallagher remaining uncertain.
Lukaku has interest from Juventus in Italy although there have been significant protests from the Serie A club's supporters over a possible move for the striker. The 30-year-old forward also has mass interest from Saudi Arabia, although he has made it perfectly clear that he wishes to continue playing his football in Europe for the time being.
football.london understands Chelsea are working closely with the Belgium international and his representatives to try and find a solution this summer. The fee the Blues are demanding – believed to be around £40million – could prove a stumbling block in any permanent transfer given his underwhelming 2022/23 season.
