What if Kylian Mbappé and PSG were to return to the negotiating table ? According to a report this Saturday from L’Équipe, the Parisian free-scoring forward and the club have resumed talks that might ease the tensions between the involved parties. At the start of the week, Mbappé told PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi that his decision to remain in the French capital and consequently leave on a free transfer come next summer was final. The club’s response was swift: Mbappé would sit out the entire season, starting this Saturday with Ligue 1’s opening day against Lorient. Les Parisiens comprehensively dominated Les Merlus but they were held to a goalless draw at the Parc des Princes.
Unsurprisingly, Mbappé was excluded from Luis Enrique’s playing squad and attended the game from his Parc des Princes’ private hospitality box. Nevertheless, the French publication understands that PSG as well as Mbappé have both shown a willingness to bury the hatchet. Could it be due to the signing of Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembélé – a close friend from Mbappé? Or down to the fact that PSG have shown the door to Marco Verratti and Neymar?
However, L’Équipe understands that there is still a long way to go before Mbappé eventually accepts a contract renewal with PSG.
