According to Le Parisien, five players are in the running to become the new captain at Paris Saint-Germain. That includes Kylian Mbappé, who was only just reintegrated into the first-team setup, and transfer-listed Marco Verratti.
As reported by RMC Sport, a second round of voting to elect PSG’s captain took place earlier on Tuesday. Luis Enrique announced last week that the players would elect the captain through a vote. RMC Sport then revealed that Marquinhos had been voted to retain the captain’s armband, however, the French publication later indicated that the result of the vote may not be abided by with doubts about the Brazilian’s capacity to lead the side lingering internally.
As a result, a second vote, this time a private one, has now taken place. It is thought that the results will be revealed soon. Le Parisien have revealed that five players are in the running. Danilo Pereira wore the armband on the opening day, and he is in contention. As is Marquinhos, naturally, and fellow centre-back Presnel Kimpembe. Mbappé, whose PSG future has not yet been resolved, and Verratti, who is being forced out of the club, are also amongst the five candidates in the running.
