West Ham United are continuing their efforts to sign out-of-favour PSG centre-forward Hugo Ekitike (21), according to a report this Thursday from Foot Mercato. The outlet broke the news on Tuesday that Les Parisiens and their Premier League counterparts had held positive discussions over a potential deal for the former Reims striker. Ekitike has been deemed surplus to requirements by PSG head coach Luis Enrique and Sporting advisor Luís Campos on the back of an underwhelming debut season in the French capital.
The 21-year-old forward is reportedly undecided on his next career move, although he does not lack suitors around Europe. It has been reported that Olympique Lyonnais, Eintracht Frankfurt, AC Milan and Everton are keeping tabs on him. So far, West Ham looks to be leading the race for Ekitike’s signing. Foot Mercato are reporting that the Hammers’ Technical director Tim Steidten has exchanged with Ekitike, presumably to convince him of making the switch from the Parc des Princes to the London Stadium. The outlet understands that Ekitike is also due to speak with West Ham head coach David Moyes.
Ekitike only played eight minutes for PSG this season, coming off the bench against Lorient in Les Parisiens‘ curtain-raiser 0-0 home draw. He was an unused substitute a week later against Toulouse (1-1).
