Kylian Mbappe transfer u-turn hands Arsenal and Chelsea major chance as Real Madrid deal denied

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have been given a major boost to their hopes of signing Kylian Mbappe. The 25-year-old striker faces an increasingly uncertain future at Paris Saint-Germain, with his contract at the Les Parc des Princes set to expire at the end of the season.

With the January transfer window open, foreign clubs outside of Ligue 1 are eligible to begin pre-contract talks with Mbappe over a free transfer in the summer. PSG must now decide whether they'd rather risk losing him for free or cut their losses and cash-in before the end of the month.

With the France international yet to pen an extension in the French capital, the Premier League was mooted as a potential destination until reports from France claimed that a deal with Real Madrid had been agreed late on Sunday night. However, Mbappe's entourage have since denied reports of an agreement.

Speaking to RMC Sport, as quoted by GFFN, the PSG star's entourage said: «There is no agreement regarding Kylian’s future, just as there aren’t any discussions on this subject. In any case, no kind of influence can dictate the timing of Kylian’s discussions, thoughts or his decision.»

After leading the Parisians to their twelfth Trophee des Champions at the weekend, Mbappe lifted the lid on his future at the club. He said: «I’m very motivated for this year, it’s very important. We have titles to go after and we took one. I haven't made my decision, I haven't made a choice.

»But with the agreement I made with the president this summer, whatever my decision, we managed to protect all parties and preserve the serenity of the club for the challenges to come, which remains the most important. (…) If I know what I’m going to do, it won’t take long."
