Arsenal ended the weekend back on top of the Premier League table. The Gunners were able to reclaim first place after their 3-0 win over Brighton.
Mikel Arteta’s side passed a tough test away at Brighton with flying colours through goals from Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard. That returned the Gunners to top spot while Manchester City maintained their pace, a point behind Arsenal, with a win over Crystal Palace.
Liverpool had the opportunity to restore their two-point lead over Arsenal on Sunday but were supremely wasteful in front of goal during a dominant performance against rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford. ‘First to falter’
“Liverpool are the first to falter in the three-way title joust with Arsenal and Manchester City, and Manchester United will be delighted at causing this,” Jamie Jackson wrote for The Guardian.
“When Jürgen Klopp looks at the Premier League table he now sees his team second, level on points with Arsenal but behind on goal difference, and one ahead of City, all three having seven games left. For the spirit shown in the second half, United deserved a draw but Klopp and his men may come to rue allowing Erik ten Hag’s erratic team to take two precious points from them.”
