Argentina superstar Lionel Messi has helped Inter Miami reach a second showpiece just eight matches into his new adventure over in the United States.
Messi, 36, and his Miami teammates are now 90 minutes away from US Open Cup glory after fighting back from 2-0 down to beat FC Cincinnati in the semi-finals. That match finished 3-3 after extra-time, before Messi scored in the penalty shootout as Miami won 5-4 from 12 yards.
It was an historic moment for the MLS franchise part-owned by Manchester United hero David Beckham as they made it to through to the final for the first time in their short history. Miami were only formed as an expansion team three years ago.
Miami, who defeated Nashville - also via penalties - to win the Leagues Cup last weekend will face Houston Dynamo on Wednesday, September 27 in the US Open Cup final.

Miami coach Tato Martino said after the semi-final win of Messi: "He's a leader on the pitch and with the group he´s shown it for a long time, not only here with Miami but also with Argentina.
"Luckily, players get behind his leadership and enthusiasm in his response for every moment, no matter the circumstances, and today he showed it more as a conductor than a finisher, and you saw that with the pass late in the match but he makes difficult plays look easy."
After the match, Beckham wrote on social media: "Another great night in pink. A great performance from the team to reach another final. Very proud."
