The 2023 AFC Asian Cup brings 32 national sides together in Qatar in the battle to win the biggest international trophy in Asian football.
The competition follows on from its expansion in 2019, where the number of competitors doubled from 16 in 2015, and there will huge focus on Qatar as hosts once again.
Felix Sanchez led Qatar to their first-ever AFC Asian Cup title in 2019, but the defending champions and hosts have changed managers twice since then, with Carlo Queiroz usurped by Tintin Marquez at the end of 2023.
Success in 2019 broke a barrier for Qatar but the list of all-time AFC Asian Cup winners reflects the dominance of certain nations in the region.

In total, nine national teams have won the AFC Asian Cup since its first tournament in 1956. however, five of those teams have only won one title.
Japan have been the modern dominant force, with three titles since 2000, and four in total, ahead of Iran and Saudi Arabia who have each won it three times.
The tournament follows the pattern of the 2022 World Cup by being moved into a winter slot due to excessive summer temperatures in Qatar.
The 2023 AFC Asian Cup will kickoff on January 12, 2024 as hosts Qatar take on Lebanon in Lusail.
The group stages run until January 25, with the knockouts starting from January 28, and the final will be played on February 10.
