The situation escalated as more players got involved, pushing and shoving by the touchline.Reds colossus Virgil van Dijk, who was wearing a bib having not featured in the game, eventually came to the aid of Robertson.He shoved several Everton players away with his brute strength, including ex-Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi. Meanwhile, Robertson successfully continued to rattle the Toffees players.They were eventually separated with the help of stewards, with the situation appearing to calm down until opponents Konstantinos Tsimikas and Amadou Onana also lost their tempers.
Yet players from both sides escaped any serious punishment from referee Simon Hooper, who is one of the Premier League's more lenient officials. Only Pickford and Robertson came away with yellows as a result of the altercation.READ NEXT:
