Liverpool confirm no U-turn on controversial ticket price decision

Liverpool have confirmed they have no plans to reverse the decision to raise ticket prices by 2% after a meeting with the LFC Supporters' Board on Saturday.

The raising of the prices, which was announced last week, is "a result of significant increase in costs across the club" according to Liverpool. Anfield officials met with representatives of the Supporters' Board following the controversial move to talk through the next steps on Saturday morning.

It's understood that a U-turn was never on the agenda, with the conversations surrounding more meaningful discussions, with a higher level of fan engagement requested alongside issues like ticketing strategy going forward.

And in a statement released on official club channels on Saturday afternoon, the Reds have stated there is nothing in the pipeline to see them renege on a rise that, while one of the lowest in the Premier League, has been robustly criticised by a handful of supporters' groups.

A club statement read: "Today, representatives from LFC and the Supporters Board met to discuss engagement processes and the recent two per cent ticket price rise announced for general admission and matchday tickets.

"LFC confirmed that its decision on the two per cent rise will not be reversed. LFC has agreed to review and improve its engagement approach in collaboration with the Supporters Board as it was acknowledged by both parties that more meaningful engagement over ticket prices is required.
