Liverpool have decided they will push to make Kylian Mbappe their replacement to Mohamed Salah in the summer transfer window, according to recent reports. It comes as Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid are amongst the teams watching on as the Frenchman's future pans out.
The World Cup winner currently has some uncertainty over the next few months of his career and beyond, with his contract at Paris Saint-Germain starting to dwindle. The forward turned down the opportunity last year to trigger a one-year extension in his deal that would take his stay until 2025.
Instead, it means he is a free agent in six-months, which opens up the possibility of an exit being agreed in the coming weeks and months that lie ahead. Teams outside of France can now discuss a pre-contract agreement with Mbappe to land him on a Bosman transfer at the end of the season.
It was a situation Les Parisiens were looking to avoid over the summer, having put forward an ultimatum of signing a new contract or leaving the club for a transfer fee. A bid was accepted from the Saudi Pro League, but terms with the forward were never agreed as he stayed put.
After being frozen out of the first-team during pre-season, Mbappe was brought back into the equation and has featured ever since, despite the looming questions over his future. There have been conflicting reports over exactly where that may be for the 25-year-old though.
