Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has claimed Liverpool's Carabao Cup final win compounded an "absolutely shocking" weekend.
The Sky Sports pundit endured a torrid few days after defeats for Salford City and Manchester United before Manchester City edged past AFC Bournemouth. Neville was in attendance on Sunday to witness Virgil van Dijk score a 118th-minute winner as Liverpool won their 10th League Cup honour.
Neville arrived in London earlier for his stint on the commentary team for Sunday's final at Wembley. However, it got off to the worst possible start after he witnessed Karl Robinson's Salford suffer a 5-1 defeat at Mansfield before Alex Iwobi fired Fulham to a 2-1 win over the Red Devils at Old Trafford with a 97th-minute winner.

Neville admitted that he can't wait for it to be over after Liverpool's record-extending cup win. Speaking after West Ham United's win over Brentford, he said: "It was a terrible start on Saturday, I came down to watch Salford - they lose - then (Manchester) United lose in the last minute, City win - a disastrous Saturday.
"No it didn't (get better) because Liverpool won! In fact, what was good about this weekend? It was absolutely shocking, I've just realised, get me home," he added. "I couldn't see Jurgen Klopp stood down there on the pitch watching those Chelsea players go up and celebrate winning the League Cup final.
"Sometimes at Manchester United, I played under a manager that seemed to be able to have that special ability to be able to grab a big game, Jurgen Klopp has something that is special.
