Mohamed Salah was yet again the star man for Liverpool as they ended Brentford's three-match unbeaten run. The Egyptian made it 12 for the season with his brace as the Reds kept the pressure on title hopefuls Manchester City and Arsenal going into the international break.
Diogo Jota added a third to rubberstamp the triumph for Jurgen Klopp's side in what has been a mixed month of results after a spell of three away matches without a win in the English top-flight. The Portugal attacker cut inside and curled into the far corner to cap an impressive display with his name on the scoresheet.
There was an opportunity for Liverpool to capitalise on results going in their favour around the Premier League on Saturday. Tottenham Hotspur squandered a lead away to Wolverhampton Wanderers, two stoppage-time goals from Gary O'Neil's side handing Ange Postecoglu a second successive defeat.
