Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann has singled out Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni and RB Leipzig prodigy Xavi Simons as players Jurgen Klopp should look to sign.
Dubbed 'Liverpool 2.0' by the manager, the rebuild of the Reds' squad remains an ongoing project. Sitting three points behind league leaders Tottenham and only lost once in 26 matches since April 1, that should be a frightening prospect to their rivals.
One issue that must be resolved is the matter of a long-term heir to Fabinho in defensive midfield, as one was not available in the summer. Alexis Mac Allister has so far been utilised there, though his strongest position is further forward.
This is why 2005 Champions League-winner Hamann believes his old club should target Tchouameni. The Frenchman has previously hinted he would be against the idea of an Anfield move having initially rejected Klopp's advances to sign for Los Blancos in 2022, though Hamann does not want to give this one up.

Speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League odds, he said: "I think Tchouaméni would complete the missing link at Liverpool. Mac Allister and Endo are playing in that position at the moment, and though Endo is able to play there and is a good player, a top-class number six is the only thing missing for Liverpool.
"Alexis is doing really well, but I think he'd rather play a bit further forward. Tchouaméni and Camavinga are the benchmark for that position at the moment, and Tchouaméni would be a tremendous signing."
