Paris Saint-Germain do not find themselves out of the Champions League. However, the signs are not favourable for a team travelling to Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc to overturn a 2-1 deficit against Barcelona.
The club have never managed to qualify after losing the first leg of a Champions League tie and while Luis Enrique believes that now is the time to end that unfortunate statistic, the supporters are perhaps not quite so confident of their chances.
Daniel Riolo, a journalist and famed PSG supporter, has been highly critical of the manager throughout recent months for his treatment of Kylian Mbappé and believes that this has led to the club sitting on the verge of exiting the competition at the quarter-final stage.
As tension mounts, Luis Enrique and Kylian Mbappé (25) must show unity to defeat Barcelona – the situation. (LP) ⬇️https://t.co/NgvvGKHGMp
Speaking on the RMC Sport programme, After Foot , Riolo once again blasted the manager “ If we had not lost ourselves in experiments which have rarely shown their validity, I think that PSG would be in a better position against Barça .” A clear reference to the manager’s decision to prepare for a future without Mbappé, while the player still belongs to the team.
It leaves Riolo despondent about PSG’s chances tonight, as he explains, “ The signs are all red. We have to see something we haven’t seen. in Paris for a very long time. ” If PSG are unable to overcome the narrow deficit then it will be clear that while the club still trusts and supports Luis Enrique, some of its more famous fans will have the knives out for the former Barcelona manager.
