Manchester United have drawn comparisons to Liverpool, with Luton Town midfielder Andros Townsend left impressed by Erik ten Hag's 'difficult' side.
United ran out 1-0 winners against Luton before the international break, and former Tottenham, Newcastle and Everton ace Townsend drew comparisons to the Hatters' 1-1 draw with Liverpool.
Ten Hag's side have had their critics this season but Townsend is not one of them.
'Extremely difficult. They are difficult,' he told BBC Radio 5 Live when asked what it was like coming up against a United side that are the most in-form team in the league over the past five matches.
'We were able to defend against them well but similar to Liverpool they just find a way.'
The was a degree of frustration from United's supporters that they struggled to break Luton down, relying on a Victor Lindelof goal to secure the three points.
But from Townsend's perspective United gave nothing up to Luton and it was a war of attrition for Rob Edwards' side.
'Honestly, it was an extremely tough game,' he continued.
'There was rotation all over the pitch. We were well-drilled and confident as we had just got a point against Liverpool the week before, we had a game plan to press high up the pitch and force turnovers, United didn't really give us anything.'
Two players in Erik ten Hag's squad were singled out for special praise from Townsend - Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire.
'Bruno Fernandes drifts out to the outside left position, links up with [Sergio] Reguilon, they get a few crosses that way,' he said. '[Diogo] Dalot comes to midfield creating an overload and we did limit them to very few chances and defended well.
'Unfortunately, we switched off at one set piece and that was our whole game plan done.
